Pittsburgh Penguin Game

This weekend definitely felt like a fall weekend, almost winter like. Our temps dipped, but it made it more of a cozy feeling, making me feel more relaxing. I already updated you on Friday, so let’s start with Saturday!

Saturday:

After staying awake past midnight on Friday, I ended up sleeping until 8:30! I was shocked; though I was awake at 6 playing with Benson so he would go back to sleep, but I’m not counting that. It felt great to get up and start the cool morning at home. The temps at 6:00 were in the 30s, making it a rest day!

Around 9:30, Matt came over so we could get ready and head to the Strip District. Basically, the Strip is a mix of a ton of different stores, and some of the best restaurants, along with street vendors. Things are cheap, and it’s always a crazy mess down there.

We really only went for two reasons: coffee and beer. Can you tell this was a man’s trip? Neither of those appeal to me! We headed to the coffee place first, where Aaron found one he really wanted to try, and then both Matt and I bought my dad some new coffee. Being that he is still in so much pain, and unable to do anything, he really enjoys his coffee, so we were happy to give him some new flavors! We made our way to the beer store next. However, the store that it was in couldn’t get the permit to open the doors. Whomp whomp.. I could tell they were both upset because they really wanted these Growlers with delicious beer (or so they say.) Lo and behold, the beer store opened the side of the building and sold it from there! They were very happy!

After finishing at the Strip District, we headed to the next destination: Pittsburgh Penguin Game! We ended up being a bit early (this never happens!) so the boys chose to hang out in the parking lot drinking their good beer, to save money inside the game on crappy beer. I agreed because beer is expensive inside Smile

How funny is it that they packed these up like they were babies? Aaron had a blanket for some reason in his trunk, and they literally wrapped them up. I was dying of laughter.

Since my bladder hates me and no bathrooms were around, we made our way inside to find something to eat.

Nachos are one of my favorite foods, so I was happy to share these bad boys with Aaron. They were the Pulled Pork Nachos. Mmm

We settled in to our seats, and enjoyed the game.

Pens game

This game was amazing. Honestly, all of my favorite things were put together in one game! We had a penalty shot, a fight, overtime, and we won in a shootout! I’m not sure there is a better game!

By the time we got home from the game, I was not only freezing (the arenas are cold!), but starving. We cooked some homemade chicken fingers, hung out with Benson, and then went to visit my mother-in-law. She had a knee replacement last week, so we wanted to check in!

Sunday:

The morning was quite lazy, just spent catching up on blogs, meal planning, and watching some TV. We headed off to church, then I was off for my 10 mile run! I did it, and felt great! Hoping that stays with me for 2 more weeks. I had time to plan my workouts, do some meal prep, and hang out on the couch. Pretty marvelous end to a pretty marvelous weekend, if you ask me!

Tell me 3 things you did this weekend.

How often do you do laundry? Once a week. That’s really only because I run out of sports bras, too. If I didn’t work out (like that week I took off), I don’t need to do it that often, and I don’t!

  1. What a fun weekend! Ah Justin does laundry at least twice a day. His mom taught him to never leave smelly clothes around… so he doesn’t… which is why my ring and cell phone were washed the other day! But, who’s pointing fingers!
This weekend we went to PA to see family we haven’t seen in awhile.

WHAT!! Umm, how do you even have enough to do that twice a day.. I don’t know how people do it once a day! lol Maybe if I had kids, though

  2. I want to say yay for the Penguins for winning, buuuuuut they were playing against Vancouver and the Canadian in me has to root for Canadian teams :P It does sound like it was an amazing game though! I haven’t been to one in a little over a year and I MISS it!

  4. It definitely sounds like a marvelous weekend! I have never been a huge hockey fan but anytime I go to a game I end up having fun, so maybe I should become one! :) I wish I could do laundry once a week.. those days are definitely over with a baby and hubs. I do it every other day and when I don’t it piles up quick!

You should! I do better being a fan at the actual game, lol. There are too many games to watch them all on TV.

  5. It definitely sounds like a fun weekend!

    I do laundry every day.

  6. Super weekend!! I love nachos too – yum!! Hockey games are so exciting and action packed! That’s awesome that you had a great run – 10 miles is no joke!!!!
OK, I do have 2 kids too, but I do laundry EVERY DAY! and I seriously dislike it!! The folding is my least favorite!! I’m actually off to go take stuff out of the dryer as we speak…ugh! ;)

  7. Shoot outs are actually my fave way to end hockey games (as long as we ultimately win) mostly because that means the game was probably a nail biter. Why is stadium/arena alcohol so so so expensive!? It’s a huge downfall to sporting events IMO. I hope I can go to a Pens game over winter break… I miss it so much! And I hardly get to watch TV games here because we don’t have Root sports in OH.

Ahh no Root Sports! That was like Slippery Rock where I went for college.. uhh so terrible. I hope you get to go to a game, too :)

  8. Looks like an awesome weekend! I slept in, went for a run, and also did some laundry. My husband gives me such a hard time about how many times I wear things before washing them. I’m exactly the same way as you- if I didn’t have to wash my gym clothes it wouldn’t be nearly as often!

I feel like I hardly wear anything else, so when I wear it for a few hours, it isn’t dirty to wash! Haha I find that I end up washing clothes more when they stretch out and just need to un-stretch.. if that makes sense lol

  9. That game looks like a blast! I’ve never watched a hockey game, but I hear they are fun! I’m not sure I would have a clue what was going on though haha
