Something about the smell

There is something about the brink of a new season that leaves me feeling blissful. With summer approaching, it is becoming more apparent just how happy everyone gets with some sunshine. It’s not just looking at other people, though, that  leaves me with a feeling of happiness. It’s also nature and nature’s touch on us. With spring seeming to be pushed to the side and summer appearing out of no where, nature has been making it known.
There's something about the smell

I love waking up to the sun hitting my face and knowing a beautiful day is upon me. There is nothing quite as peaceful as an early morning cup of tea with the sun shining in the windows reminding me that I’m lucky to be alive. The sounds of the birds chirping in the early morning, and late night, give me a peacefulness of how life should be. How often do you watch the sun rise or the sun set without doing anything else? It’s those moments where we need to just sit back and take it all in. Forget about the to do lists, forget about all the plans that are before you. Take a few minutes and listen to the birds chirp, watch the sun rise, and be grateful for the new day upon you.

In our world, we are always in need or things, or in a rush to do something. We need to change that, and focus on taking time for ourselves, and remember what truly matters in life. Is it a to do list being finished before bed, or is it the moments you were able to spend with your kids after dinner? Is it the workout you squeezed in to your day, or the quiet, peaceful walk you took after dinner with your husband or wife? Is it putting your kids or animals toys away, or actually getting up to play with them instead?

Take a few moments and remember the smells a new season brings. It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a pep in your step.

  5. Totally agree with the smell of an oncoming shift in seasons. Now for the inappropriate part–there is something called the “Fart Matrix” on youtube that my idiot husband and all of his friends think is SO FUNNY….yeah. But anyway, Agent Smith says the line “there’s something about the smell” and you can guess where that goes. Just thought I’d share.

  9. Love this hun and couldn’t agree more :) The sunshine has made everything seem brighter recently, and nothing makes me happier than getting the boys out for a walk to the park, and even the rain is peaceful today and makes for a nice change of pace. I do believe we’re heading out for a walk in the rain in a bit…the boys like to jump in puddles and I like the sound and the cool breeze :)

  12. This is so true! When we were living in California and I was missing spring/fall back home I would just tell my husband “I miss the smell of spring” and he had no conception of what I was talking about. But you are so right, that spring smell is the best! :)

  13. While nothing will ever replace the smell of fall as my absolute favourite, I have to admit that spring definitely has an enticing aroma as well. I love the sunnier days… and the lack of snow obviously lol. I love that I can go outside without freezing to death, and I love all the energy in the air.

Going outside without wearing a coat and freezing is my favorite thing. I do agree that the fall has a distinct smell that is fantastic. I love the crispness of the fall nights, too.

  14. I do find myself getting up much earlier now that it’s nice outside. I feel like I’m wasting my day when I sleep in and don’t get out to enjoy the weather. My runs have been alot better too. Sometimes I even do two runs, one in a.m. and one in evening since it stays light out so much later now. So nice!

  15. Oh I love this post! I’m a total morning person and I love just pausing for a minute on my way to the gym or coming home to just stand outside and listen to the birds and hear the world waking up. It sounds super corny, but it’s so great to just revel in it!
